Nikon's Z FC Mirrorless Camera Is a Throwback to 35mm Photography
Featuring a 20.9-megapixel sensor and 4K video recording capabilities.
Nikon has unveiled its latest mirrorless camera — the Z FC — a throwback to 35mm photography.
Harkening back to the ’80s era of the FM2 SLR, the new Z FC mirrorless model carries a largely similar and vintage aesthetic, but fully upgraded with modern technology for exceptional performance. Sitting at the core of the camera is a 20.9-megapixel APS-C sensor, delivering high-quality images through an Expeed 6 processor. A 2.36 million-dot electronic viewfinder provides a more immersive and precise photography experience, while the fully articulated OLED display on the rear couples neatly with the camera’s oversampled 4K video recording capabilities. Rounding out the retro-inspired model is an SD card slot, a microphone port, and a battery with enough juice to capture 300 shots on a single charge.
To complement the Z FC, Nikon is also launching the Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE) lens, boasting matching designs with the mirrorless camera while offering ample field of view for both street and travel photography.
For those interested, Nikon’s Z FC will be available in late July. The body-only kit comes at $960 USD, the DX 16-50mm f/3.50-6.3 VR package will go for $1,100 USD, and the 28.mm f/2.8 (SE) package will cost you $1,200. The latter lens can also be purchased alone later on in the fall for $300 USD.
